About KôHënnă

I was born under a full moon in Louisiana. A night that, I like to believe, set the rhythm for everything that followed.

I am KôHënnă. My indigenous name, reflects the work I do today as a botanical culinary artist, herbal alchemist, plant-based chef, and immersive wellness facilitator.

I come from a lineage of medicine women. My grandmother, a Creole restaurateur in Louisiana, taught me that nourishment is medicine. My mother, a healer by profession and by heart, showed me that healing is both a science and an act of care.

Today, I honor that lineage by curating immersive experiences that weave together sound, breath, ceremony, and botanical hospitality. As the founder of Gingerbēet, I extend that philosophy through thoughtfully prepared plant-based cuisine, zero-proof Elevated Elixirs, and herbal rituals—each rooted in Afro-Indigenous, Creole, and Choctaw traditions.

Based in Washington, DC, I hold an honorary doctorate in Traditional Medicine & Ancestral Healing and offer curated immersions throughout the DMV, with travel available across the U.S. and internationally by inquiry.

“Before it was ritual, it was rooted. Before it was rooted, it was ancestral.”
